Two weeks ago Q, Nils and I went on a whirlwind trip to attend the wedding of a dear friend. When Q and I first heard that the wedding was Steampunk themed, we immediately started putting costumes together for the occasion. I've made a number of
posts in the past on various parts of the outfit,
like here (the
start), here (jacket
progress), here (skirt
progress), here (dying
fabric), here (Nerf
gun), here (hats/hair
things) and here (finishing touches). It's a long story, I know. Ready for some silly pictures?
When it was all said and done I made a fully lined jacket, an over skirt, an under skirt, a bustle, a set of pockets, a holster, a belt for the holster, a headband, and a scarab pin. I also modified a blouse and dyed some things brown along the way. Phew!
The jacket, skirts and bustle are a part of the Burda
7880 "Historic Dress 1888" pattern.
I knew it would be too warm to wear the jacket the whole
night so I made sure the blouse fit nicely and the costume looked OK
without the jacket on. I took in the sides of the blouse and fixed up
the over sized sleeves.
